Quick Start

This guide gets lazyenv running in a repo with one or more .env.example files.

Prerequisites

Step 1: Set Auth Env Vars

Export credentials for your chosen store:

# Infisical
export INFISICAL_API_TOKEN="..."


# Doppler
export DOPPLER_TOKEN="..."


# Bitwarden
export BITWARDEN_ACCESS_TOKEN="..."


# 1Password
export OP_SERVICE_ACCOUNT_TOKEN="..."

Store‑specific setup lives under Stores.

Step 2: Initialize Your Project

Run init and pick a store:

Terminal window
lazyenv init --store <infisical|doppler|bitwarden|onepassword>

Interactive mode walks you through selecting (or creating) a project when supported by the store.

Step 3: Sync secrets

Section titled “Step 3: Sync secrets”

Push keys from .env.example into your store:

lazyenv sync

Step 4: Pull secrets locally

Section titled “Step 4: Pull secrets locally”

Fetch secrets into .env files:

Terminal window
lazyenv pull

Step 5: Run commands with secrets

Section titled “Step 5: Run commands with secrets”

Execute commands with secrets injected as environment variables:

Terminal window
lazyenv run npm run dev

If the store is unavailable, lazyenv run can fall back to local .env files.
